Trendy in Leuven Apr 10, 2009
I'm told by the beautiful young things that the Seven Oaks is the actual trendy night-spot in Leuven, Oude Markt is sooo blase.
We stumbled across the place by chance after a fair few beers. It isn't the most obvious location, up a small alley (Hanengang) off Tiensestraat, without many bars around it. The alley looks deserted, and the heavy solid wooden doors make the place look closed. Even when you push the doors open all you see is stairs going down into the catacombs, with the faint sounds of music drifting up. The place is a dance floor nightclub, but designed for pretty young things to press themselves against each other than actually dance. James loved the eclectic range of music they played, from 70s and 80s up to the current stuff. I thought it was pretty good too, especially before 12 when the place was only just filling up and it was quiet enough to enjoy the reasonably priced beers. Leaving just after midnight things were really starting to heat up. Part of the Life in Belgium travel blog |

November 9 I left Brussels to the JubelPark hitching spot and hitched to Leuven, that didn’t take very long. I finally ended up walking in the city before dusk, early having all those memories coming back to mind and all those places I hange…… Autumn colours |

It was seriously strange last night to see our tiny little street sealed off by police in riot gear. To watch from the balcony as the police, wearing kevlar and holding perspex shields and batons, form a human shield to cut off the traffic while the…… Seriously strange |
