The Secret Garden Hostel Reviews
Nice Hostel in Quito Apr 27, 2009
I stayed at The Secret Garden Hostel for 1 night post-Galapagos Islands. It was what I had expected in a hostel. I rented a private room with a double bed, $20.00/night. It had a shared bathroom with one other person. The bed was quite sufficient for sleeping. Dinner is held at 6:30pm every night(sunset) on the terrace. Although I had already eaten, the food looked delicious. I did, somehow, find room for the tres leches cake. The view of colonial Quito is fabulous. The atmosphere is relaxed & chill.
There is a computer room with plenty of seating. You have to sign up for the online computer use. There are couches and chairs perfect for updating travel journals or to plan the current trip. All in all, The Secret Garden Hostel gets my stamp of approval. It's For back-packers and for those solo travelers but also for small families. …and a half of travel, with occassional hour of sleep on the airport bench or the plane, I was happy to be ringing the bell of the Secret Garden hostel in the late afternoon. I didn't have too much trouble with taxis from the airport (about $6 to the old city of Quito), they have the system set up pretty well so that you can pay inside the terminal and then… Quito - Day 1 - My first taste of the joy that is the Secret Garden hostel |

This takes three days and I arrive in Old Town Quito at the well run "Secret Garden" hostel a little run down. I spend most of my first day in bed but the following day I wander around the fasinating Old Town of Quito. According to the guide book the Old Town is the safer place to stay in Quito… Quito |

the airport is great - faster check out than on london city and this taxi voucher system really works
and mentioning 'secret garden' hostel is like a keyword for vip treatment - i got taken to a nice taxi immediately, etc... the drive took forever, traffic was really bad but it gave me the opportunity to watch the surroundings, which were very 'interesting'... the dodgy quito north… mitad del mundo |

It's been a fantastic couple of days staying at the Secret Garden Hostel. Overlooking a panoramic view of the old city, we've met some really cool people and became facebook 'friends', shared travel stories, laughed, ate good food, drunk wine, played poker - it's been awesome. Quito itself is quite a sight to behold… Quito |
