The Second City

My girlfriend took me to the second city production of "Rod Blagiovich Superstar" at the Navypier shakespeare theater.

It was in a small intimate setting with individual tables for each group of people. They also had an ample supply of alcoholic beverages that were needed to get people laughing and rowdy. They also had the dreaded blagotini.

For people who don't know who Rod Blagiovich is, he is a Chicago politician who became governer. He was later busted for extreme acts of corruption (like refusing to fund a childrens hospital unless he gets a bribe) and some times comical and bizaar behaviour, including comparing himself to Nelson Mendella, Ghandi, and Martin Luther King Junior, and going jogging all the time, and being "a scrappy kind of guy".

The musical was a work of genius. After the musical they had a half hour of improv, the actors were winded and it wasn't too funny. Overall a great time!

This was a great venue. I showed up on xmas eve. A big local tradition. A little cramped with small tables but well worth it. I laughed my ass off! Great stand up and skits. Several Saturday night live legends got their start here. There is also plenty of places to eat and have a drink before and after the show. all within a block. no need to taxi around. If youre in the area long enuff they also have classes and workshops for the public.... who knows you could end up a star.
This is a definate stop if your in the Chicago area.
