The Salsa Room Arlington Reviews
Good salsa lessons, good music, bad food, fair drinks May 21, 2011
How can you mess up chips and dip! Well, this place can do it, but they offer Salsa lessons and I guess that also makes up for the yucky food.
I went on a Friday for a friend's birthday party and they offered beginner's Salsa lessons for about 15 minutes. It is followed by intermediate lessons and then an open floor. At this time, they have a 45 minute beginner's class on Thursday (check the website for all their events).
My friend ordered a mango margarita and said it was just OK. She ordered a shrimp dish off the appetizer menu and said it was rubbery; as if it was cooked earlier and refried to be served. She also said the food on her plate was not hot. Even the chips and salsa they put on the table wasn't that good. Ick. My friend asked for one more item and for the waitress to bring the bill when she came back-in short, that didn't work out.
The Salsa Room is a wide open space with some tables on the side and some more private space in the rear. Once all the people take over the dance floor, the large open space seems so small. There is a multi-cultural mix of dancers of a variety of levels.
We parked in the lot next door and we got there early enough to find a space, but there isn't really ample parking. It was $10 to get in and the price goes up to $15 after a later time.
In summary: it's a great venue for Salsa lessons, Salsa dancing, and to people watch. Bad space for food, service and drinks.
