The Royal Resort Playa del Carmen
The Royal Resort Playa del Carmen Reviews
luxurious, worth it, excellent Oct 23, 2008
We orginally started out at the Grand Porto Real, which is The Royals sister hotel located across the street! We were getting married, and had planned for children to be with us...Not ours! My niece and nephew (The Royal is adults only)! But they ended up not being able to make it! So the second day we were there, the guest services people asked us if we wanted a tour of The Royal, of course, we said no...We didn't want to waste 45 mins of our day! But we did want to check it out...so we snuck over..and the security guy was nice enough to let us take a peek! And boy, did we change our minds quickly! It looked like heaven...Since we had paid for the oceanfront room at the Grand Porto, it only cost us an additional $20us a night to move across to the Royal!
It was fabulous, premuim liquor (Grey Goose, etc)..The restaurants all had fabulous food! Rack of lamb with mint, crepe bar, etc....We ate at every place...and it was well worth the all inclusive! You couldn't find better food downtown! The staff was great too...with the exception of the snooty front desk..The bartenders, all restaurant staff, and housekeeping extremely accomodating! And the service poolside was incredible. I didn't get to experience the spa..which is supposed to be one of the best..but it sure did look neat! Lots of Mayan ritual selections.... We will be back...It's a bit more expensive than we like to pay for, but definitely worth the cost! |
