The Royal Hotel Bulawayo Reviews
Cheap and reasonable stay in Bulawayo Aug 31, 2010
The Royal Hotel: cheap 80s hotel at its best. I enjoyed my stay there!
So, for the brutal honesty part: the place is a bit run down and dingy, but at least the sheets and bathroom are clean. It looks like it hasn't been touched since 1980 in terms of decor and remodeling. And each room is like a grab bag- some have phones, some might have an unhooked refrigerator, or perhaps you'll get a toilet seat. Your phone book will range anywhere from 1999-2006 and give you everything you need to know-- about Harare, that is. Some have two keys for the room and others have just one.
If you're driving, there are guards there who watch your car. I felt that the neighborhood was safe.
Without breakfast, a single is $20 and a double is $45. The people who work there are nice and remember you since it is a small place.
There is also a bar in the hotel, and quite a few locals hang out there. It's a great place to meet people and chat with them.
If your driving force for choosing hotels is a cheap place that isn't gross, this is for you. If you like to have your niceties, you should probably look elsewhere.
