The Royal Festival of Light
The Royal Festival of Light Warsaw Reviews
The Royal Festival of Light Jan 06, 2016
The Royal Festival of Lights takes place every year in Wilanów Palace in Warsaw. Wilanów Palace is a special place on the map of Warsaw. It survived the time of Poland’s partitions and both World Wars and has preserved its authentic historical qualities. It is one of the most important monuments of Polish culture, which is often skipped by tourists due to its suburban location. That is a huge shame! The palace and its park are not only a priceless testimony to the splendour of Poland in the past, the times when Poland was the largest country in Europe, but also a place of many cultural events. The palace is a member of the international association of European Royal Residences.
Wilanów proves that autumns and winters do not have to be grey and gloomy. The Royal Garden in Wilanów is gleaming with thousands of colourful lights every year. Every autumn and winter the palace’s grounds host a special event – The Royal Festival of Light. In last three years the garden turned into the Labyrinth of Light which looked a bit like the maze from Alice in Wonderland. This year the new, but not less amazing, light installation has been shown. The Magic Garden of the King is truly an amazing place to visit. King's Garden is a magical installation located in the garden at the Orangery.
This unusual garden doesn’t go to sleep for the winter, on the contrary – it sparks by many colors and hides many surprises! Here the plants, including lilies, dandelions, foxgloves and tulips, are bigger than people. So are the butterflies, wasps and ladybugs! The garden of lights hosts plants and animals that the garden of King John III Sobieski hosted more than 300 years ago.
In spite of the autumn-winter monotony The Magic Garden of the King delights with light, color and diversity. The garden's objects are increased to such an extent that even adults can feel like little kids here. The King’s Garden in Wilanów is a place where true magic begins!
