The Ritz Carlton Golf And Spa Resort Montego Bay

I had the pleasure of staying at the Ritz on a vacation with my dad in March. It was a company paid vacation, and a very nice place. The staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were gorgeous, and the resort is right on the ocean. The rooms were alright- nothing really special. Nice enough bathrooms, not the comfiest beds, but not horrible. I would generally expect something more for a resort with these prices and reputation, but it was cool. The food is alright, but becomes tiresome. Most of our lunches were at Mangos, which is located right next to the pool. The food wasn't anything special.

We did very much enjoy dining at Jasmine for dinner. The food was phenominal! The chef even sends you a complimentary appetizer. We also enjoyed an appetizer of Crispy Crab and Callaloo Wontons on Pickled Pineapple with Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce (delish!). I had the special (a lobster dish with veggies and white rice, in a creamy yummy sauce). The food is absolutely amazing, but pricey. Dress nicely and make a reservation!

One fun, very Jamaican thing I did was to get my hair braided. The woman was very friendly and did a great job. It was only like $40 (US$$).

I also got the 80 minute deep tissue massage. If you like deep tissue, they definately give it to you, so be prepared! My only complaint was that we started like 10 minutes later than my appointment and she ended it like 10 minutes early... but hey karma will get you (the resort accidentally forgot to charge us for the massage!)!

Overall: it a nice place, but if you are going to Jamaica to EXPERIENCE Jamaica (not just lay by the pool and order room serive and use the spa services), then try someplace else! Check out NEGRIL!
