The Reel Inn Reviews

If it were only cleaner, did not charge for parking at Lunch, and treated customers better. Apr 26, 2008
I have to tell you that being a frequent Malibu and Santa Monica Visitor I have been to the Reel Inn countless times. Unfortunately this place has reached a level of cleanliness that I could no longer take. The employees don't care what the place looks like and there might literally be bird excrement in the food if you are not carefull.
I encourage everyone to check out the restaurants closer to the Malibu pier a little more north.

For delicious fresh fish, and a casual atmosphere, this is the place to go! Years ago my local friends turned me onto this place and now I make it a mission to go every year when I am in LA. Located on the PCH right after Topanga Canyon (heading north), the Fish Shack as we call it features valet parking (would not be LA if it didn't right?), picnic benches, and outdoor seating. Stand in line to order your fish - grilled, cajun, blackened or any number of ways - along with the sides - their delicious cole slaw, rice, potatoes and more - pay and give your name, then wait till they call your name over the loudspeaker to pick up your food.

I think it's before you get up to Pepperdine, right after you enter Malibu city limit and you pass Topanga Canyon on your right hand side, there is a big sign that reads THE REEL INN. But it does have a counter where you order and the rest is seating. I love this place, I've been going here for a good 5 years.
Still working out our appointments in LA (we are visiting travel agencies) but once that is set (early next week I hope!) I will be in touch to see if we can meet for drinks - or even at the Reel Inn :)

Is this the place past Pepperdine when you're going north from Sunset? It's on the East side of the street? Half of the little shack is a fish market and the other half is a counter where you order? I thought the name is the Malibu Seafood Company...maybe I'm mistaken...FOOD looks yummy! I think I need to go!
