unfortunitely it looks like the aussies have not done a good job of keeping up the quality the english woman had as described by you. i went in there for a turkey dinner on american thanksgiving day and was very unimpressed, it didnt cure any of my homesickness because the food was nothing like i would have at home. its a shame but i guess it was someone elses idea before

Well this is cited in my fabulous Machu Picchu trek book as the place for a full english Roast dinner (includes Yorkshire Puddings) and is very much that. Its on calle Plateros one block from the Plaza De Armas, and you have to go thru a little artezan market up some stairs to find this very chilled Brit owned cafe Lounge.
The menu is just Brit inspired, with everything you crave for including Marmite (tho i am not a fan) Branston Pickle (tho sadly wasnt in stock when came) Baked beans Fish and Chips Giant Chips PG Tips Jacket Potatoes Pie and Mash Yorkshire puddings Roast potatoes and a whole other range of tasty foods, nothing was expensive and the roast dinners were about 30soles, which is only 4quid. They also have a large range of english mags on view, including Marie Claire UK edition, and Heat, if you dont mind them being circa 2005/06. We thought the place was lovely, and good for a lunch or just a lounge about drink, a glass of Mendoza wine is only 8soles. We met the owner and she was a lovely lady, who sadly for personal reason is selling the place to some Aussies. But they promise to retain its british feel and look. A excellent place to go if your home sick and need of some english food, and i after all had craved Yorkshire puddings since Christmas dinner at Chili Roja in Puerto Viejo. Top marks, excellent!! |

Before our trip we’d spent a lot of time with our STA travel contact, ensuring that my friend Steppy’s Inca Trail trip would coincide with ours.
