A pot of gold at the end of the rainbow Aug 31, 2014
As the dark clouds fade away to blue skies, the rain begins to diminish, and the sun peaks its head out, you may look up to find an arch of different colors hovering over the city. It’s called a rainbow and it is said that if you will follow this rainbow to where the colors meet the earth, you will find there the leprechaun who hides his pot of gold and if you dig around you just might find it. Some time ago Warsaw became somewhat more colorful. A rainbow appeared on the Plac Zbawiciela (the Saviour Square). Yes, I know, rainbows can be seen often in the summer time here, especially after summer rains and thunderstorms, but this one wasn’t that kind. It didn’t disappear after a few moments. This one was permanent... Or at least it supposed to be like that! Unfortunately the rainbow was the victim of vandalism. Someone set fire to it… SEVEN times already!!! The rainbow, which was erected to commemorate the Polish presidency of the EU, has become a symbol of discord between the two major political parties in Poland. But is there a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow? If you would try to dig a hole on the Plac Zbawiciela to check it, I think you could get arrested. Anyhow the idea of a pot of gold at the end of rainbow is creative. You can never reach the end of a rainbow, and since you will never get there to check, it can’t hurt to think there is a pot of gold. But do not be dismayed, there is still a pot of gold to be found... somewhere... maybe... maybe even in Warsaw...
