The Rach Gia Lighthouse Jan 12, 2009
The Rach Gia Light lantern and gallery sits on a 61-foot triangular concrete skeletal tower. A spiral stairway up the center provides access to the lantern which has a focal plane 77 feet above the water. Two white flashes every 8 seconds lead ships into Rach Gia, Vietnam's principal port on the Gulf of Thailand. The tower is painted gray and a yellow two-story lightkeeper's house sits nearby. The site is open to the public but the tower itself is closed. Little is written about this light which sat just across the river from where our fast boat from Phu Quoc Island unloaded.
