Best Live Music Act in CQ Oct 27, 2011
Ok I have been a patron of the Pump Room since 2007/2008. There use to be no cover charge but since 2010 you have to order a drink to enter (I sometimes go in free cos the bouncers recognise me). Located at the centre of CQ (facing the fountain) this place is unmistakable. Always a long queue at its doors on Friday/ Sat nites.

The crowd is a mix of expats and local. The main draw is the resident band - Jive Talkin. This band has been around for a while now and has appeared on Channel News Asia a.m. show. The band plays a mix of Top 40s, rock, pop, retro danceable tracks. The DJ spins current hits ranging from house, techno or hip/hop & rnb tracks during the band's 15 minutes break. The band also does song requests for birthdays/ hen or stag nights.

My favourite drink here is the Long Island since I am not much of a fan of the beer (unless they have Kolsch). The bar used to have girls going around selling tequila/vodka shots but this was stopped.

Patrons have an option of sitting outdoors or indoors (if you want to hear the music). Theres also an enclosed VIP section indoors.

The only thing they could improve would be to have a bigger dance floor as it gets pretty crowded especially after midnight.

For food - generally western food. I would say it can be quite pricey but the portions are quite generous.

For travellers wanting a night to enjoy, I would definitely recommend the Pump Room as I have accompanied several visitors from Europe (well mainly French) here and they were very pleased :)

Good food & one of the best local live band acts in Singapore Nov 27, 2008
For me the main draw of Pump Room is the live band, Jive Talking. They are a veteran band, been around at least 15 years. Easily recognizable as their sax & lead vocalist is a transexual :)

They were from Hard Rock Cafe years ago & I have 'followed' them more or less through the years. Anything from Top 40s to alternative, latin etc, these guys can do it all.

Food is very good here, restaurants rates but worth the money. There's plenty of restaurants & clubs in Clarke Quay, do wander around, walk by the river or have a cuppa by the water. It's a great place for a night out!

Check out their performances on Facebook...Jive Talkin....
