stavanger ferry 40 min to tau, then bus 20 min to bottom of pulpit rock Jul 28, 2011
i and my daughter(11) are the only 2 passengers who made to pulpit rock on crown princess (26jun-9 July 2011).

on the day when we docked at stavanger port, after finished a quick breakfast, we headed towards ferry, only took us 7 min walk. asked several people near the pier and made sure that was the right pier, we only waited for lesser than 10 min to board the ferry. after sailed off, a young man staff came by to sell us the ticket. 200Kr (US$40)for adult and 100Kr for child return tickets, including ferry and connecting bus. our this ferry is 8:30am starting from stavanger to tau. it was around 940am when we arrived at the bottom of the pulpit rock. it took us 2 hours exactly to hike up the rock. most of the road are rocky, most of time we

were just jumping on rocks. we did very well in such raining weather. the view up to pulpit rock was amazing, worth it. i sat at the edge of the rock, i dared to do so was because we were the only 2 people on the rock, if the weather was not raining, i bet it would have lots of other travellers on the rock, in that case, i dared not to sit at the edge, i would worry even 1 of them a bit crazy, may push me off. we did not stay on the top of the rock for long, as we need head back and to catch the 1335bus, if we missed this one the next bus will be 1505, this time can still get us back to stavanger at 1620, but we must board crown princess 1630, and sailing off time is 1700. we were lucky we made on time and the Norway ferry and bus are very punctual too.

after got back, we had a chance to talk to a bit younger couple, they were planning to do this too, but worry if they can make it or if the ferry or bus will be on time etc... most of passengers on crown princess did take a boat excursion to the lysefjorden and view the pulpit rock from bottom, but lots of them complained due to the heavy rain, they can not see the pulpit rock at all.
