“Fabulous hotel and awesome service” Dec 25, 2014
It was my first time in Manila and I wanted to have a great stay and TB Nolan recommended The Peninsula, which turned out to be the closed thing I came to a dream.

The hotel had an amazing service from the moment I entered the area surrounding the hotel. The lounge area is like stepping into a movie from 1930s and you are just blown away by the number of weddings that are passing the lobby during a day.

The reception service was great and I was offered an upgrade for a fee of 25 euro a day but I turned it down as I didn't plan to stay much in my room. I was given a room facing the Makaki and it was a wonderful room with bathroom in a traditional high class manner. I will definitely stay here again when I pass Manila again. The hotel also had a nice bar and a restaurant with lovely food - yes it is pricy but it is all worth it.

Grand style in Manila Sep 05, 2011
With a main entrance off the major road, the Peninsula Hotel is secluded. Once you get past the security, the entrance opens up in a great style. There are two major wings with a mezzanine between them.

Once you enter the hotel there is an open dining area where people congregate for drinks, eating and people watching. The rooms are nicely appointed with all the amenities you would expect of a luxury hotel.

The location in Makati is right across from the Greenbelt mall. In the evening this area is a full of restaurants, bars and people watching.

Stay at this hotel made my trip even more memorable Jun 13, 2011
I stayed at this hotel for a week

Extremely Spacious Rooms, well maintained Pool they also have an Indian restaurant and the food quality is comparable to the best in India.

Good medical facilities and overall hospitality is amazing. Staff, Conceirge everyone is friendly and helpful. This hotel is located in the posch area of Manila surrounded with shopping malls, restaurants

During my entire stay everyday live music was played in the lobby. It was a wonderful experience and almost at half the price compared to similar stay in India.

Peninsula Manila in January Apr 17, 2011
Peninsula Manila is one of the most high-end hotels around the area. A little expensive but really close to the nicest malls around the metro. The rooms are nice and cozy. I love the bed and the pillows! The bathroom has a separate shower and tub. They serve breakfast at Escolta. Love their hot chocolate. They have a lovely pool and a gym near it so you can still do your routine. We stayed here for two nights right after NYE and it was cool. You can actually walk to go to the malls :)

Luxury in Lavish suites. In the heart of Manila Apr 02, 2010
If your coming to Manila and you happen to be looking to place your head someplace that's not only beautiful but also something to remember. May I suggest a suite at Manila Penn? This hotel since in a great area and is attended by a great staff with fantastic amenities. The Pool was lavish and they can bring drinks to you while you swim. The SPA is perfect with ample room for you and a couple members of the congressman or possibly a senator. Anyway It's at least worth a 2 night splurge. I can guarantee you'll be taken care of.

The Peninsula Manila - As If Nothing Happened Dec 31, 2007
I did not stay on this hotel by the way. However, I chanced to visit this hotel when I attended a friend's wedding last December 2007.

One has to remember that this hotel has been on the news few months back when some rightist group of soldiers went there decided to use this as their hostage.

Article from wikipedia about the "seige":

"The Manila Peninsula rebellion occurred on November 29, 2007. Detained Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, General Lim and other Magdalo officials walked out of their trial and marched through the streets of Makati City, called for the ouster of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and seized the second floor of The Peninsula Manila along Ayala Avenue. Former Vice-President Teofisto Guingona also joined the march to The Peninsula Manila Hotel as well as some of the soldiers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The siege was ended after the military stormed the building and the occupiers arrested.

The lobby of the hotel was obliterated by an armored personnel carrier on the assault to serve Trillanes et al. their arrest warrants."

Anyway, during my visit, there was no traced or any remnant of that "rebellion", the entrance that has been destroyed has been replaced with a more beautiful gate. The hotel looks really beautiful now, more beautiful than the last time I visited it few years ago. I would agree that there's added beauty for its "historical" value.

Also, it is a must visit place now because of what happened, even if you wont be checking in, just try the food. The buffet is great there.
