The Parliament Experience
The Parliament Experience Reviews
Politics! anyone? Aug 18, 2008
Parliament has met on this site since 1865 when it moved from Aukland. Some of the buildings were destroyed by fire and some have been replaced and others added as needed. The Parliamentry Library and the Executive Wing are commonly known as the Beehive.
Although you can book to do a tour, you can just turn up. (unless there is 10 or more) The tour lasts about an hour and takes in the key areas of Parliament. The tour guides are of course very knowledgable and can answer any questions about the Parliamentry process, the history, artworks and the architecture. At certain times some of the areas may not be accessable because they are in use for Parliamentry business. You can do a self guided tour of the grounds or view a 12 minute video. There is a gift shop in the visitor centre. You can take as many photos outside as you like but none are to be taken inside. |
