The Park Bangalore Bengaluru Reviews
Affordable comfy hotel in town Mar 03, 2011
I got to know The Park Hotel Bangalore through my first business trip to Bangalore some years back and when I had the chance to make another business trip there in October 2010, I chose The Park again simply because it is a cozy hotel and is relatively near to places such as Commercial Street (street shopping), Brigade Road (and more shopping) and Cubbon Park (beautiful historical buildings and monuments and it even has a library!).
Having landed late at night due to delayed take off from Singapore, it was pleasant experience to have a really smooth and quick check in so I could get to bed soonest possible. Although this time around, I had to go through the metal detector (I was informed that this is now practiced in all the hotels for safety purpose).
The single room comes with a king size bed and the size of the room is good for 1 person probably decent for 2 persons. The room amenities are rather standard with cable TV (it has sufficient English channels), DVD player, minibar, wireless internet connection, etc. Besides the fact that the bed felt a bit lumpy, I had good night sleep throughout my stay. The incessant honking on the road can last till late at night but the noise level is adequately reduced when the glass doors are closed and air-conditioner turned on. There is not much of a view (given that I had a room facing 2 other buildings). 2 PET bottled drinking water are provided daily - this is a lifesaver because it meant I did not need to buy bottled drinking water.
Its continental breakfast is not much to rave about and has limited options. However, its room service local menu is something to try, at least once, especially the Tandoori. Its ironing service was excellent. Speed of service was rather good for both room service and laundry service.
The concierge staff were friendly and especially helpful with hired cars (I had a few different hired cars during my stay) by letting me know which car came for me for the day.
The check out process was also extremely smooth and prompt. There is a option of being billed on Indian Rupees or home country's currency.
Overall, The Park is a small yet comfortable hotel that gives off the feeling of being at home. For what it lacks in luxury (luxury in Bangalore is spelled Leela Palace), it makes up with simple coziness.
Note: I am giving The Park an Average overall rating because in terms of F&B, there is much to be done for its restaurant.
