This pub/restaurant is quite remote, being up a small moorland road above Hebden Bridge, less than half a mile from the UK's longest footpath, 'The Pennine Way.' Locally it is generally known as 'The Ridge'.

If you have not been before, unless you have an enormous appetite, assume you will not want a three course meal - although you may have a problem choosing between starters and puddings.

The Packhorse prides itself as being a chip free zone but this does not put off a lot of people, including us, from going there often to eat. I particularly like their lamb dishes - but they are huge - and the pheasant.

As for drink, they have a good choice of cask brewed beers and a choice of single malt whiskies that would shame most Scottish pubs - their website claims over 140 - but there's no problem with having coffee if you prefer.
