The Original Glider Rides: Honolulu Soaring - Sailplane Ride on Oahu's North Shore

Honolulu Soaring is a fantastic opportunity to "fly like a bird" over the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii. It is absolutely amazing and beautiful! Although I also enjoyed skydiving on the North Shore, also out of Dillingham Airfield & Gliderport, soaring in a sailplane is much more relaxing and quiet. According to their website they are rated as one of the Top 3 activities on the island--I can vouch for that!

Prices range from $60 for a single-seat 10 minute ride up to $316 for 2 people 60 minutes (yes, you can take your friend or significant other up with you plus a pilot in a 3-seat glider!). I think my friend Eric and I went up for 30 minutes for $238, minus a military discount when we checked in with "Mr. Bill" the owner of The Original Glider Rides -Honolulu Soaring. They also give discounts/T-Shirts for booking online.

The 2-seat version is a little cramped, so you definitely want to know the person sitting next to you well before going on this type of glider ride. They also make a video of your flight for you for an extra cost which will make a great way to remember this remarkable experience.

I think we flew with Dwight who also gave us a few wing-over maneuvers for acrobatic excitement once he found out we were Air Force.
