The Orient Original Buko Pie Los Banos Reviews
Laguna's best-tasting coconut pie Aug 31, 2012
Visiting Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines? "Buko" (the local term for coconut) pie is the town's special delicacy that visitors line up for. Served with fresh coconuts and just sweetened enough for a delightful taste.
"Orient Original Buko Pie" recipe simply uses tender buko slivers (young coconuts) and not the already mature ones. This is different from G&B buko pie of Tuao North, Nueva Vizcaya where milk and cheese is part of the buko pie recipe. The name "Orient" was added to distinguish it from other "original" immitators and from those being peddled by ambulant vendors.
The store is located along the Manila-bound lane of the National Highway - just right past the Memorial Garden Cemetery and Anos bridge or before these landmarks if you're bound for the University of the Philippines campus.
