The Old Town Viewpoint Apartments Budva Reviews
Good view toward the Ocean and Old town Sep 03, 2014
After a couple of times could not find a place to stay without advanced booking in Balkan country, I decided to book the hotel the night before we depart for the destination – so we do not have to walk around and knocking on hotel door to see if they have room available and I found it is waste of time and not much different in price and actually it is more expensive to pay lunch (sometimes lunch is more expensive than the hotel for a night). So we decided to book through booking.com with reasonable price and within our budget.
This place has a good review from other guests who has stayed here. We found the apartment is immaculate, smell new paint and it has a huge window with beautiful view toward the ocean and old town.
Unfortunately there were no reception in this apartment, you need to call the owner or manager when you arrive there so you can get the key to go inside, otherwise you will get stranded outside the building without access. Minus point – there were no communication from the apartment manager once we booked the place – no email or whatever to confirm what time we arrive there.
Since we do not have local phone sim card, we asked our taxi driver to call the owner or manager and she comes quickly – less than 5 minutes since she lives not far from the apartment (she lives at nearby building down the stairway toward the old town).
She showed us the studio apartment which located at the -1 floor. The apartment is nice and brand new. It was okay – more like a room than the apartment since it only has a double bed with desk and there is small kitchen on it but no appliance to do any cooking (not that I am going to cook anything since we only stay for a night). Air condition work well since it was quite warm inside the room with the sun shining from outside. Wifi is free and password was written near the television but connection was bad – I can not get access from inside the apartment but it is okay when I sit outside the stairways.
The bathroom is modern and spacious, unfortunately, the hot water tank was leaking with a wee drop of water and after a while it form a pool of water on the floor which is quite nuisance and I have to put towel under it to sustain the water escape everywhere.
The old town is within walking distance – ten to fifteen minutes down the stairway from the apartment within easy work and the apartment manager showed us the way.
I personally prefer to stay either in the city area or in the old town itself since it is quite a walk to and from the apartment and taxi is a bit difficult to find from the apartment.
Luckily we managed to catch the manager at night time and asked her to booked taxi for the next morning to go to the bus station. It is too far to walk with luggage to the bus station.
I probably would not stay here in the future since I found it is not convenience to get places. It cost €50 per night for two people without breakfast.

Apartment with a view Sep 03, 2014
We found an apartment above the old town in Budva through a booking website. The apartment is in a new building along the main highway in Budva but we haven’t got a precise location for the place so to avoid getting lost while trying to find the place we decide to take a taxi from the bus station to the apartment.
It is just a short ride so it really should only be a couple of Euros for the ride from the bus station - but all the taxi drivers at the bus station seems to be colluding there so we can’t find anybody to take us for less than 5 Euros. If you actually know where you are going you might be able just to walk from the station but it is a bit uphill so might be hard if you are carrying heavy luggage.
After a short ride to the apartment block we just have to wait for the woman with the key to show up. Fortunately it doesn’t take long for her to arrive and we get inside the building. The building is pretty new and it seems like it is sort of a hotel building targeted solely at tourist renting a place for a short term. We get into the elevator and head down to level minus one - which sort of sounds like a basement - but due to the fact the building is sort of on a hill our place is above the ground and we have an excellent view of the old town of Budva below the place. The location below the ground ensures we get no traffic noise from the highway driving by the building above us.
The apartment isn’t really an apartment - more just a room with a little cooking area and a bathroom attached. It isn’t big enough to be classified like a studio just a fairly big room.
The apartment is new and everything inside it is new and most of the equipment works perfectly like the air-condition. The bed seems like it hasn’t been used before more than maybe ones or twice. And it smells a bit like a new apartment with everything brand new including whatever is in the kitchen area - not that we really look into it since we don’t intend to do any cooking here. When it comes to the television it is a bit inconvenient since it hasn’t got the channels installed yet - and for some strange reason it is impossible to install the channels when I try. The toilet and shower is decent and there is an adequate supply of towels which is fortunate since there is no place to get extra nearby.
The apartment is on a hill above the old town in Budva so we have a bit of walk to get down there and when you are out exploring it isn’t easy to get back to the apartment so it is sort of you go out and stay out place we are staying at. There isn’t much in the department of restaurants or shops close to the apartment - everything sort of happens down at the beach area or in the old town so you can’t really get out having dinner or breakfasting in the morning. On the other hand it is great waking up in the morning pulling the shades and has a quick look out over the bay and the old town down below.
