The Old Punch Bowl Crawley Reviews
Traditional Pub on the High Street Mar 05, 2011
I've lived in this town for seven months now and this pub continues to be one of my favorite spots. During the day the food is great, it's typical English pub food with fish and chips, steak and ale pie etc. The low hanging ceiling, exposed beams, fire place and oddly shaped walls add to the charm and reaffirms that this is a proper English pub.
The selection of beer is average, although not great. They have the current trendy beers of England now such as Kronnenberg, Carling and Fosters but they lack many of the old English bitters and ales.
Additionally, the pub turns in to more of a night club at night. It's interesting to see such a dramatic contrast between night and day when the nice cozy English pub turns in to a loud English bar with a dance floor, DJ and the latest pop music. Although if you're young and into the night life, this is the place to go to start your evening.
Regardless, if you happen to be passing through this town and have some time to kill, the Old Punch Bowl is a must. You can't go wrong here, order the fish and chips or the English Breakfast and you won't regret it.
