The Old Naval Cemetery Port Royal Reviews
A place for lost souls Apr 23, 2011
One of the many sites that you have in Port Royal is the remains of the Old Naval Cemetery. The cemetery was created after the large earthquake in 1682 where the first one was taken by the slide in to the sea. The cemetery is situated approximately 1 kilometre before the entry to Port Royal.
The place has like the rest of the city seen its best; the grave stones are falling apart and the crosses with number are disintegrating every day. The cemetery hosts mostly British navy personnel and sailors from 1680 – 1880, until the British navy gave up one these premises.
It is a pity site to walk the premises because this place is just disappearing in front of your eyes. I wish somebody would give this place some attention.
