The Oil Shoppe Travel Reviews

Mar 27, 2007
Glorious place... I recently studied abroad in Florence and sadly discovered this place the last couple of days. Most fantastic food and its pretty cheap compared to the rest of the tourist traps... There's also another restaurant I'd like to recommended that had the best Gnocchi but completely forgot what it was called...

On Via San Edigio (pretty much right by the Duomo), typically I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for a sandwich, but you will not be disappointed. It blows Noe's out of the water.

this oil shoppe is a sandwich shop. the best sandwiches you'll find in florence for the price. it is unknown by tourists but big among students studying in florence (and there are a lot of students in florence). the sandwich man is like the 'soup nazi' from seinfeld. he'll tell you what is good or not on your sandwich he is making. i don't remember the exact locatin of the oil shoppe but if you are standing right in front of the Duomo facing it, walk around the back on the right side and go straight along that road. Take the first left and then take the next right. it should be on that road down a few blocks on the left side. very discreet. sorry if these directions are wrong but ask around for directions if i'm wrong on the location. enjoy.

San Miniato's age allows it to feature artwork from many eras, while its semi-remote location keeps it from being mobbed by tourists. Best of all, the beauty is not limited to the artwork ...
