The Ohio State Fair
The Ohio State Fair Reviews
Aug 11, 2007
Usually held in late July and early August for two weeks, the Ohio State Fair offers a little of everything for most everyone. There are the usual carnival rides, games, and food, as well as some Ohio-unique qualities.
A trip through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources area is a must. The trails offer views of native Ohio wildlife, plant life, and more. There are benches with every county printed on them (usually the challenge is to find your county and sit on it.) The ODNR area is shaded with a stage overlooking a small stream where there is kiddie fishing. As with any state fair, there are extensive livestock displays, merchants both from and not from Ohio, and midway entertainment. The fair usually pulls in entertainment such as Weird Al, the Grassroots, Slaughter, Taylor Hicks, and other non-mainstream but widely popular acts. It’s a nice way to spend a day in Columbus, Ohio. Admission for adults this year was $8 but they did offer special discounts on certain days. See their website http://www.ohiostatefair.com/ for more information.
