overpriced venue starring big chart acts playing live Dec 17, 2010
The O2 is a huge (around 14,000 capacity) arena that features all the really big names when they drop in to Dublin to play live concerts. As a concert venue, it's fine if lacking intimacy (personally I don't enjoy being anywhere except the standing area down the front), but it's very overpriced.

I mean that in two senses: the cost of seeing a live band in Dublin far exceeds that of Belfast, north of the border, and the prices for food and drinks in this place is as high as anywhere in the city, Temple Bar included. That especially goes for the non-alcoholic variety. I'd only recommend it if you really want to see the performer (you'll probably need to book well in advance) and not for those who just want a night out. You'll pay through the nose and the atmosphere is average at best.
