Amazing rooftop bar! Oct 11, 2011
The Nest rooftop bar is located on the 8th floor of the Le Fenix Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 11. Close to both Nana and Asoke BTS stations, and most taxi drivers along the Sukhumvit strip will know where it is too. Directly across the road from QBar Club.
It is a more upper class setting, where you will find mostly expats, wealthy Thais, and Wstern tourists. Instead of tables they have cosy and intimate 'beds' and lounges, which offer privacy and romance is coming with your partner. There are tables, set back from the view, which are very stylish and more suited to groups or a friends gathering. The view is quite good, with a view of part of the city. There has been a lot of construction work lately around the area, so for a while all you could see were big cranes and lots of workers.
It gets quite busy on weekends, and can be very quite during the week. You can reserve a table on Saturday nights, yet there is a catch - you need to buy a bottle of alcohol (about 1500 baht per bottle) - you do get free mixers and ice. During the week you can book a table without buying anything.
Their cocktail menu is expansive and sure to satisfy - I suggest you try the Lychee Martini, its amazing, even the glasses they serve it in spell out exclusivity! They are a little expensive comparing to Bangkok prices, cocktails starting at around 300baht, plus they have service charge and tax added to the bill. I have never eaten here so I cannot recommend any of their food.
Music is house chill out, and quite relaxed during the week. It can get quite loud on the weekends, and there isn't really a dance floor. The Nest also hosts some killer parties, such as MODE, which is held once a month, it is part of the Suk11 Club Crawl, which is also held once a month, and they have 'Beach' parties where you can get free Mojitos and 2 for 1 other drinks on a Sunday afternoon.
Don't worry if it starts to rain whilst ur sitting outside, they have big plastic covers which they open up to shelter the entire rooftop.
The only downside, as it is outside, there is no air con, and the big fans don't really do much, so it can get quite hot, even at night.
