The Naxcivanian Olympic Gym Reviews

Dec 01, 2006
The Olympic Gym in Naxcivan would be considered substandard for most middle school gyms in the US. There is a bench press, incline press, decline press, one adjustable bench, a squat rack, leg extension machine, leg curl machine and a lat pull-down machine. There are only one standard bar, one curl bar and two smaller straight bars in the entire gym. Weights are few. A total of 4-20kg plates, 2-15kg plates, 2-10kg plates, and 2-5kg plates that will fit on the standard bar. All of the equipment is old and some could be considered dangerous. There is no air conditioning and no heater either. If you come during winter months, you might want to wear a lot of layers.

The gym is very crowded from 4pm-7pm as that is when all of the teenagers occupy equipment. The best time to go is after 8pm as there are only about four people working out then.

The weights are housed in one small section of the gym, the rest of the gym is used for a boxing ring and some spectator stands. There is plenty of space to move around. The stands are also a good place to run wind-sprints.

The gym costs 6 manats for foreigners, but to my knowledge it is free to locals.

I have been told the gym will be closed down starting in January, 2007 for remodeling and reopening in September.
