Architecturally the museum itself is a considered piece of modern architecture and fits beautifully into the landscape. For the more traditionalists there is the Victorian Gothic house…. There are good facilities... a tasteful gift and coffee shop. and the museum itself houses traditional crafts and ways of life of people who lived and worked in the landscape of Ireland...well worth a visit and amazingly its free. The landscaped gardens are nice to explore… moreover the backdrop of Turlough round tower in the distance frames its beautifully… A hidden gem in the west of Ireland
Museum the Turlough(lake)and Victo…

I wish we had more time here. What an interesting look into the lives of Ireland's country folk!

Lots of exhibits to look at, detailing how villages and the different people within each village functioned. You can get a lot of cultural background out of this museum. Definitely plan to spend a couple hours.

When we went in Fall 2007, there was a vintage advertising exhibit. And working in advertising, that was particularly interesting to me.

The grounds of the museum are beautiful and a great place for pictures as well.
