The National Museum of Ireland Archeology Dublin Reviews
Gorgeous! Jun 10, 2011
The National Museum of Ireland has several themes and locations in Dublin, we saw the Museum on Archeology on Kildare Street. They have a couple of excellent exhibitions, like Prehistoric Ireland, Ireland’s Gold, Viking Ireland and Medieval Ireland, but the highlight is without any doubt The Treasury. This collection shows the Cross of Cong, several stunning crosiers, the Broighter Hoard and St. Manchan’s Shrine are absolutely fabulous.
Next to that, the building in which the museum is housed is also very beautiful. It was designed in the 1820s and has many neo-classical influences. The entrance with its rotunda and classical columns is modeled like the Pantheon in Rome. The entire interior is richly decorated in the style of ancient Greece and Rome and the mosaic floors depict scenes from classical mythology.
Best of all is that the admission for the museum is free, so there is nothing stopping you from having a peek!
