N49°16.096' W123°10.016' an evocative relic of Kitsilano' hippie past, this vegetarian restaurant has a feel of comfy, highly chatty farmhouse. Naam never closes its door, but expect a queue in front during peak times. During your wait outside in August 2015, we studied the many prices Naam received for its food. Our expectations increased.

We chose two mains from the blackboard. First the Thai stroganoff on rice noodles served with side or Naam salad for CAN$13.95. A big plate with a separate bowl for the Thai stroganoff arrived at our table. They fried the tofu in curry. Not spicy or hot, but also not delicate. This was average and unimpressed cooking. The coleslaw was made of alfalfa and lettuce without dressing. The same story for the yogurt pakong curry with naam, salad basmati rice chapati tortilla and mango chutney. This food could have been prepared much better.

The servings were large, but did not impress us at all. This was food for energy-intake to fill the stomach but not to excite our taste buds. Disappointing and not in accordance with the many awards Naam received in the past we concluded: do not take your carnivore friends to this place; otherwise they reaffirm their prejudices about vegetarian food.

We came to The Naam (vegetarian restaurant) for lunch, as we were passing through Kitsilano and were blown away by the food. Adam had the "Tofu Dog Platter" with sesame chips (fries) and miso gravy. Steph had the "Naam Dragon Bowl" with tofu, organic brown rice, steamed veg and miso gravy. Both dishes came with the most amazing salad as well. Both dishes were AMAZING and very good sized portions (which by our standards is saying a great deal)! The total cost for both our meals came to CAD$23; very good value in our opinion.

The setting as well is worth a mention. It had a very homey, comfortable feel, good music selection which was in keeping with the restaurant and the staff were very friendly.

We had hoped to return on our last night in Vancouver, but circumstances did not allow it. It will however, be one of our first stops the next time we are in the city!

This is a great place and I have been there numerous times. Make sure to have a little patience because besides being famous for good vegetarian food they also have a reputation for being fairly slow.

This is a great place to go also when you're drunk after a party. It's open 24 hours a day so making your way over there at 330am is highly recommended.

Be sure to order the Tuscan Nachos. Pile of chips, overloaded with cheese, sun dried tomatoes, red onions and balsamic vinegar, accompanied by yoghurt and salsa.

The Naam is a great vegetarian restaurant in the kitsilano area of Vancouver. It's open 24 hours a day and offers delicious vegetarian meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The atmosphere is cozy with intimate tables inside or in the small patio outside, and there is live music (mostly folk, jazz and blues) from 7-10pm every night.

I've heard the food can be hit and miss, but everytime I've been there, I've had delicious dishes! The service can be a bit slow, and can lack a bit of enthusiasm, but the ambiance can more than make up for it.

My favourite meal is probably one of the Dragon Bowls (the gold dragon is the best!) and a blueberry soy shake mmm! Their sesame fries and miso gravy are a specialty and not to be missed. There are many vegan options.
