The Museum Conde Castro Guimarães
The Museum Conde Castro Guimarães Cascais Reviews
Highlight of Cascais Sep 08, 2010
The absolute highlight of Cascais is the Museum Conde Castro Guimarães. This former palace, its interior and its surrounding park were donated to the people of Cascais by Count Manuel de Castro Guimarães, who died in 1927.
The palace shows the luxurious life of wealthy Portuguese aristocrats with beautiful paintings, sculptures, furniture, porcelain and a valuable library. If this is the first palace you see in Portugal, chances are you will love it as much as we did. If you’ve seen one or more other Portuguese palaces, it may be nice to have a look (admission is free). If you’ve already been to Sintra, there’s no point to go to this place. Nothing tops Sintra.
Unfortunately you cannot take pictures on the inside of the palace.
