The Moonstone Ulaanbaatar Reviews
Traditional music and throat singing Aug 21, 2011
The Moonstone is nice small theatre with a stage and benches with tables for the viewers. You can order drinks with the waitresses. There’s a regular performance during which musicians, dancers and acrobats show the Mongolian culture and their beautiful traditional dress. At times the quality of the sound is awful and it is all very commercial, but the throat singing, the music and costumes are fabulous. Many ger camps throughout Mongolia have performances with traditional music and singing, but these are generally a huge tourist trap (literally!) and this one is far better.
It’s a lovely way to get to know an important part of Mongolia: the music and the throat singing.
