Mission San Juan Capistrano Apr 12, 2010
I recently visited the Missions of San Juan Capistrano.

Parking is mostly street parking but there is always close availability to the missions main entrance. There are also a few local parking structures for a small fee.

Outside the Missions are a collection of restaurant and mom and pop shops. Antiques are one of the most prominent shops there after the restaurant.

Inside the missions you are provided with a audio tour handheld that allows you to punch in a number of your location and hear a brief history of what you are standing upon.

The original church is mostly gone but what is left is beautiful.

The combination of local restaurants and the beautiful sights inside the mission would make a wonderful day trip for anyone of all ages.

This was another adventure to one of the most beautiful missions in the US. founded and settled in 1776, it was a complex full of so much history, artifacts, and a self sustaining culture. the great stone church by the entrance to the mission was half in ruins, having been struck during a morning mass (1812) by an earthquake. what remained was later referred to as 'the american acropolis.'

Learn about the early life of indians, as well as spanish missionaries and settlers that came in the 1700s. It is a gorgeous historical site!
