The Mirage Resort & Casino Reviews
"Mirage" is the perfect name . . . it is a "Mirage" . . . literally Mar 28, 2009
I chose Mirage #1 for the location (which did not disappoint). #2 for the pool/tropical atmosphere and for a wonderful honeymoon stay.
Stayed over Labor Day weekend for 7 days in 2008. Horrible experience . . . if my husband and I would not have lost over $200+ for our 1st night stay we would have checked out and went to Stratosphere instead. We had so many issues but to name a few, the elevators quit working at least 3 times out of the 7 days we were there. Tub would not drain and air conditioning didn't work so we demanded another room. We were treated horribly and they knew we were there to get married and it was our honeymoon. Overall I was just incredibly disappointed! Hotel is dark and gloomy and very smokey. Don't waste your money at their buffet it is the worst I've ever had and I've ate at lots of hotel buffets in Vegas! Horrible car rental experience through Mirage, staff was uncooperative . . . had no clue what was going on and tried ripping us off! The positives . . . the bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept in ever! The pool is beautiful but the drinks are outrageous! Location is perfect! They did upgrade us to a nicer room due to all of the problems but I never would have pd extra for a tower room knowing now what it is . . . nothing spectacular just a bigger bathroom. |

Still a class act Sep 24, 2008
The Mirage Resort & Casino in Las Vegas was one of the first of the new breed of luxury hotels, and is still a class act. In all, it is still a very nice Vegas hotel, and we enjoyed our stay there. I have stayed at the MGM Grand, Bellagio, Paris, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, Monte Carlo, and can say that other than a slightly older basic layout, the Mirage competes very well overall, especially when price is factored in. Check-in and check-out were a breeze.
Rooms: All of the rooms have been recently renovated with new decor, flat screen TV's, green glass table tops, etc. They are very nice, and the bed was very comfortable overall. As this hotel was originally built before many of the newer strip hotels it still has an older room layout with a small bathroom (which is really the only negative when it comes to the room overall). If you want a huge bathroom, this isn't the place. Casino: Like the hotel rooms, the casino layout overall is a little older in it's basic style, with a lower ceiling, etc. However, it's been renovated and the restaurants, clubs, etc. are all new and very upscale. The Atrium at the front of the hotel is very beautiful with many large palm trees and foilage growing under a huge glass dome. Buffet: I thought the buffet overall was very good, but I'm not especially picky so take my advice as you will. No real issue here in my opinion. Pool: The pool area is one of the nicer ones in Vegas with plenty of large palm trees, several man-made waterfalls, and a good overall layout. Being summer, the pool was very crowded and there was clearly some reserving going on. Nevertheless, we found two seats together around the pool within about 15 minutes - not terrible. The only real negative for us was that housekeeping made a lot of noise knocking on other people's doors (we had our privacy sign out) and conversing with each other down the hallway in loud voices at about 8am every morning. No doubt it was only the housekeeping personnel assigned to our floor in particular and not necessarily true overall, but still it was inconsiderate. Overall, however, the Mirage is a nice, newly renovated hotel and we enjoyed our stay. It's a step below Bellagio and Mandalay but is very competitive with MGM Grand, Paris, etc. One last note...the Volcano out front is currently being renovated and will be working "late 2008". Not that it really matters.... |
