The Mill Quorn Reviews
Cute outside, functional inside Dec 21, 2012
The Old Mill in Quorn used to be a standard motel, housed in a historic building, but it is now private property of Topdeck / Adventure Tours (a backpackers' tour organizer), used as bunk house accommodation.
It consists of a communal house with a very large and well equipped kitchen, a dining area and a living room with a TV and DVD player. It is all outdated and has seen better times, yet it is very cosy and has a homely feel. There is also a flight of stairs leading to the upper floor, but this is cosed off to the public.
The accommodation is grouped around the courtyard and is surprisingly comfortable. The original motel rooms have been converted into bunk bed accommodation. Our room, the nr 2. Has 2 bunk beds (sleeps 4), air-co and has a fairly large bathroom with a shower. It also has plenty of power sockets - great for dorm share. Bed linen is provided but there are no towels. Make sure to bring your own.
The overall cleanness factor of the place is very reasonable. It's not spic and span but we have seen far worse. As for the public areas, it greatly depends on how people that use them, leave them. Guests are supposed to do their own dishes.Nevertheless, the kitchen is very well equipped and has all cutlery and tableware needed. Topdeck also nicely stocks up the fridges for a very sumptuous breakfast.
There's also a laundry room on-site with a washer and a drier (the latter was out of service, during our stay) that can be used free of charge. Only for the washing powder, a small donation is asked.
The Old Mill is definitely one of the better bunk bed accommodation places we staid at on this tour... But it appears to be only open to Adventure Tours and Topdeck clientele.
