The Manchester Academy Reviews
The Manchester Academy Mar 06, 2010
The Manchester Academy is a music venue a little way out of the city centre, near Manchester University. ALthough lacking the distinctive decor of the Apollo, it is a very nice venue.
The accoustics are good, and the stage is big enough to allow a decent set up. The beer is not too expensive, and with two bars, there is not usually an insane queue for a drink unless you try to go right after the support band finish.
Manchester crowds are generally friendlier than London crowds, and this makes for a good gig if the band are half decent.
I've been twice, and the security guys are friendly and not too much of a pain about things. You will get your handbag searched, girls, if you are silly enough to bring one. But they are pretty cool about it.
