Kız Kulesi( The Maiden's Tower in English) is located in Üsküdar, in the Anatolian side of the city, not so far from its port.

Walking further by the sea, you'll see the Maiden's Tower in the sea, two hundred meters from the coast. Today the tower serves as a modern restaurant. A tourist boat will take visitors several times in a day for twenty liras per person.

There is a popular Turkish legend about the tower. An oracle prophesied that an emperor's daughter would be killed by a viper's poison on her eighteenth birthday. To protect the princess, the emperor sent her away from land to a tower in the middle of the Bosphorus. On her the eighteenth birthday, the emperor brought her a basket of fruits as a gift. However, a viper that was hidden among the fruit, bit the princess and she died just as the oracle had predicted.
