The Madison Avenue Pub Toronto Reviews
The BIGGEST bar in Toronto May 22, 2011
You're in Toronto and need a beer, wanna watch the hockey game, meet friendly locals, sit on a patio, relax with friends in a cozy booth... well go to the Maddy (what we locals call it):)
This bar has go to be the biggest and oldest pub in Toronto.
Actually all of Canada if Im not mistaken.
Its 2, no wait, 3 town houses put together. Seriously its that big.
Each town house has like 3-4 floors each and there are a total of 12 bars inside the whole establishment!!
There are 5 patios, 4 fireplaces, 2 large pool tables and 3 large screen tvs. The booths are all covered in a soft red velvet like material and the bars are all made of brass and oak. The Maddy is decorated like an old British pub and it truly is one of the nicest and cleanest bars Ive ever been to.
I go to the Maddy several times a year. It got loads of attention when Colin Farrel decided to come for New Years one time. A popular choice when visitors are looking for a pub:)
Ive been going here for years and I still get lost, so I highly recommend that one is very clear about where they plan to meet inside. You can say the 3rd floor but remember to say what house you mean.
The Maddy is on Madison Avenue just off of Bloor street. We call this area "The Annex".
Its also conveniently located on Frat lane. All the Fraternity houses are on that street so expect a lot of rowdy and good looking university students on the weekends. :)
But if you are just looking to have a relaxed cool evening with friends you can easily escape the shenanigans on the many floors and quiet booths the bar provides.
I highly recommend this bar. There is no cover to get inside but it does get very busy on the weekends so arrive early. Oh, and there is a 21+ age restriction.
I hope this was helpful. Hope to see you at the Maddy one day.

The Madison is a four floor house that's been transformed into a bar. It features a casual bar atmosphere, but is always absolutely packed. I would get there early as there's always a lineup on weekends. It's mostly younger people that go here because it's near the university downtown, but that just adds to the lively atmosphere.
Because of it's casual atmosphere, it's a great place to hang out with friends. There's always great music playing, and on the third floor is a guy that can play ANY song upon request on the piano. He's brilliant, and probably the main attraction of the bar.
I like the Madison because it's not JUST a bar. On top of the good music and great atmosphere, are the cheap drinks. Of course, there's also bar food that's served all night!
Casual and Fun May 19, 2011
Always one of my go to places when wanting to have a fun low-key night with some girlfriends. Guaranteed to see some interesting characters and make some friends. You never know who you will see! A friendly crowd so its good for tourists to interact with long-time Torontonians.
