The Macuti Light Jun 07, 2008
Mozambique has the longest coastline of any continental African country - more than 1565 miles in length facing the island of Madagascar across the Mozambique Channel on the Indian Ocean. The country's major ports are Pemba in the north, Quelimane and Beira in the center, and Maputo - the capital - in the south.

The Macuti Light was built in 1904 and is located in Beira. The tower stands 28 meters (92 feet). The Macuti Light was painted with black and white bands for most of its life, all white for a time, then most recently white with red bands. This picture was taken in 1995.

Must be some interesting sights along that coastline! I saw once a program about sharks going up the freshwater rivers and attacking even people, and as I remember it was along the Mozambique coast!
