A new restaurant can't make it out of the starting gate Sep 20, 2009
The Lunch Box, formerly Mike's Place, has new owners, has been cleaned up and looks brighter and friendlier than ever before. Unfortunately, the place is mostly empty for a few reasons. The food is not much better than before - dry meatloaf, dry hamburgers, and the specials are never very tasty. The reputation of the old owners still haunts the place - poor food and poor service. Which brings me to the final reason to avoid this restaurant. The waitress. They only have one and she is probably the worst waitress I have ever seen. She cannot put silverware on the table, refill your drink, take your order quickly and without really rude comments that she seems to think are funny. She has a loud voice and talks about personal things that no-one would want to hear. In the meantime you wait on a drink, ketchup for your burger, a fork to eat your omelette with, or even just a polite response from her. A few of us have mentioned how disturbing the waitress' attitude and skills are - but the new owners are keeping her and she is the ONLY waitress. New customers come and don't come back. Many people in the neighborhood share the same buzz. When you walk past the diner it is usually empty. This place needs more than a physical rehab - they need better food and a much better waitress.

I, too, have been to this place since the management changed. That waitress is a piece of work and the food is average.
