The Lounge at Klapa Nov 10, 2009
“The Lounge” is a grand cafe and lounge at Klapa. It opens from breakfast until 10pm, serving everything from International to modern Asian fusion cuisine. The lounge has a grand garden plaza of 1,000 sqm. where one can find a swimming pool and spacious sun decks, bar, and gallery all in one area. The restaurant is all enclosed with air conditioning, and floor to ceiling windows that offer great views of the ocean and sunsets. You can also order from the restaurant and be served anywhere out on the deck.

Asri and I ate here on our first visit. The prices are a little more than you might expect to pay, but you get a 20% discount by staying at the Best Western, so in the end it all balances out. And the Klapa is so far off the beaten path, that if you aren’t staying at the Best Western, you really have no great reasons for coming here…unless it’s to surf on Dreamland Beach. I had a steak burger with fries and Asri had a club sandwich. And we both ordered their iced cappuccino, which was really good. There was nothing outstanding about the food, but the views were nice.

The music was lounge type music and everything was very comfortable. You could hear the waves coming ashore. The lighting was minimal but perfect, you could enjoy the moonlight under those conditions. One of the places we visited had huge pillows on which you could lounge on. After… Next stop...Bali!

…woke up, made sure I got the complimentary breakfast which I had missed everyday so far and made for the pool, kicked back on the lounge and let the sun sweat every last toxin out of my body. Besides I need a break from Bintang. Everywhere I go I see Bintang, grocery stores, t-shirts, singlet’s, shorts, pub, club…..yep over it. Bit hard to get some descent rest… The trip of a lifetime!

I was so tired that I fell asleep at the Lounge. Gracee had to wake me up to remind me that we have a a pick up coming soon. Only at that time were we checked in. We were given the next available room, which wasn't the one originally booked for us, so I was again… the crazy girl who jumped off a 45m tower
