The Lone Cypress Pebble Beach Reviews
Only available to visit if you take the 17-Mile Drive Apr 18, 2012
On a large rock outcropping along the peninsula of Pebble Beach is this Monterey cypress tree which has grown here for many years. It is by far the most photographed point of interest along the 17-Mile drive. It is salt pruned, which means the ocean breeze coming off the sea below does a real good job of keeping it well trimmed. Many years ago a retaining rock wall was built to help keep it falling off into the sea. As of 1990 no picture of the tree may be used for commercial use according to the Pebble Beach Company, who have claimed trademark on it.
Okay, for the real side of this, it is indeed so most photographed because it is such a wonderful sight. And even if you don’t care much for the scenic 17-Mile drive, this one stop along the way is so well worth the look.
