The Lodge at Sonoma is heaven on earth. I stayed in a Lodge Room, which can accommodate up to 6 people. The website says it can accommodate 5 but you can really put in 6. The balconies are very spacious with amazing views of the resort or the main road (Broadway St.) in town. The staff is very helpful and kind. Sonoma town is so much fun! You can't go wrong. I think this property and this room category starts out around $300 USD a night. Since I'm a travel agent, I got it for free!

I was on a recent photo shoot in Sonoma and stayed at The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa. It is situated about 2 minutes out of the central town area. It is a little but too far to easily walk to from most of the restaurants, nightlife and shops. I was really interested in the spa and wine tasting they had available on site so I elected to stay there. The resort is very upscale and cozy with a friendly staff. The food is typical Northern California with a dash of Mediterranean and a generous selection of local wines.

This Marriott hotel has 178 room, 4 suites but is most noted for its spa facilities. There is a steam room, therapy baths, massages, body scrub. Wrap and facial treatments. I don’t know how I got any work done but after long days of shooting vineyards and wineries, this was a place I looked forward to coming back to.

If you are seeking to visit Napa, you may wish to consider staying there instead as it can be an hour or so go get there with traffic. Sonoma is similar but a bit “sleepier” and a much slower place. This is where locals are locals and visitors are welcome.
