The Little Mermaid statue is the most visited attraction in Copenhagen. The sculpture which was commissioned by Carl Jacobsen is based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.

If you've got time it's worth taking a stroll up north to the harbour where she currently sits. It's a lovely area for a walk and she is worth a visit. But she is a lot smaller than everyone expects. But there is normally a group of people around her so she's easy to spot.

While I'd say if you can you should make the effort to see her, there really isn't that much to look at. And there are usually people trying to get pictures next to her and boat tours coming from the water so it's hard to get a nice picture of just her.

I got to see her with fewer people around, but then again, it was getting dark.

The little mermaid statue is the heart of Copenhagen

statue is placed in the harbor and it is pretty easy to find. There is many signs to help tourists find it. If you are going to follow the signs you should know that The Little Mermaid is Den Lille Havfrue in Dansk. .

. Its beauty statue but I expect large statue . I think the person who made the The Little Mermaid talent & the girl model must be beautiful .the statute chance to enjoy sea view , take picture & remember beauty of Copenhagen.

Don't go there! Or don't expect anything special Jul 19, 2011
We all know the Little mermaid from pictures,

But we usually don't realize how small it is!

Just an advice, don't expect too much from this visit, it is definitely not the best to see in Copenhagen. Better go to Chritiania :)

The mermaid is closed to industrial area, with industries in the back, and it is smaller than I am...

She's a beauty but she is quite petite! May 05, 2011
Once you come to Copenhagen, on the list of main attractions to see would most probably have The Little Mermaid on the top of their list.

Although many didn't expect her size to be as small as she is would still recommend for anyone who visits Copenhagen have a stop by and see her. As the surrounding area is a nice park with a very calm and nice atmosphere situated by the water.

The little mermaid statue is the heart of Copenhagen. Its beauty is somewhat captivating. When compared to all the large statues in copenhagen, one has to stop and wonder, why is this little lady so popular, why is she so valuable.

This little statuette has been stolen more than once and even been vandalised. If Hans christian Anderson hadnt written a famous childrens book about that little mermaid, would people have gone to that length?

In all her beauty, the little mermaid looks coy and somewhat unpeturbed by the chaos around her while people plunge forth to take a picture with her. Becareful as those rocks are quite slippery

There is not much else to do than take your picture and leave. But at least you will get a chance to say "I have seen The Little Mermaid". That is enough good reason to visit there for those who don't like about the statues. :)

The Little Mermaid is a must... especially if you have or are planning to read Hans Christian Andersen.

The Little Mermaid is found in Copenhagen harbour (at 55°41′34.39″N, 12°35′56.59″E) in Churchill Park. The statue is a symbol of Copenhagen, commissioned in 1909 by Carl Jacobsen, son of the famous brewer I.C. Jacobsen that founded The Carlsberg Brewery, he had been fascinated by a ballet about the fairytale. The sculptor Edward Eriksen created the statue, which was unveiled on 23 August 1913.

I think the statue was great to see once you're there. Its one of those things that its so popular, you want to snap one picture and go on your way. So it doesn't cost anything to go there and see the statue, but it might take a little while before its your turn to stand by it and get your picture taken.

The water is really nice as well, especially when the weather is cooperative.
