Museet Kystens Arv, Coastal Heritage Museum.

The collection of a special type of boat ("klinkbygde råseglbåter"), boat-building and the literature history connected with the author Johan Bojer are the basic themes at the museum. In the boat-building workshop boats are still built according to old, traditional specifications. Visitors may also experience sailings on the sea with the traditional type of boat. There are own exhibitions displaying the well-known and traditional "Lofoten fisheries" as well as "the woman world" back on the coastal farms while the men were engaged at sea.

At the Coastal Heritage Museum locals every summer, in sun or in rain, arrange a outdoor theatre.
The performance tells us about the Lofoten fisheriers life in the 1870-80, leaving their familys in fall and returning early spring. Some seasons with lots of fish, other with less. The women waiting at home for Lofot letters and money to live through the winter. Some years the fishermen were shipwrecked and half of the fishermen dissapered on the sea.
With the surroundings of the Coastal Heritage Museum the canal
and the boats this is a great theatre. You`ll be cought in the history.
The performance is in the evening, and in August the nights starts to get dark.
