Great Small Hostel Jul 21, 2011
The Last Resort is one of the BBH hostels in Queenstown, New Zealand. I stayed here in between my tramping expeditions in Fiorland on the South Island.
It's a small hostel, with only 18 beds; all rooms are shared. There are no doubles or singles. There is a female only dorm, which I found useful.
Some of the perks of this hostel are the free breakfast, free WiFi, and free internet on two computers. Free wifi is hard to come by in New Zealand, but it's great when you can find it.
The rooms are small so if you have a lot of stuff, it can be difficult to maneuver. The largest dorm has 3 bunks for a total of 6 beds. The other rooms only have 4 beds. The beds could have been more comfortable. They had a tendency to sag in the middle.
The lounge area is nice with a TV and several couches. The dvd collection is extensive so it's common to find people watching movies in the evening. The kitchen is small and can get crowded at dinner time.
This was my first hostel experience in New Zealand, and I was pleasantly surprised. I have mainly stayed at BBH hostels while traveling and found them to be a great place to meet independent travelers.
