I went up to Cumbria for a long weekend and I loved it. It’s the perfect little bimbling place. If your into your rambling / hiking / mountain biking then you need to go here ! Its just as far as you can see, preserved landscape. Your surrounded by hills and mountains, and if you look carefully, huge houses stare at you through the trees, almost like their spying on you, just keeping an eye that their landscape is not being ruined. You could spend days on end there if you’re into nature. The lakes are crystal clear and there is only one road that runs through Grassmere so the sounds of nature are not drowned out. Take a picnic and sit by the lake....be careful of the ducks, they don’t tend to be to kind to people round there. It’s so nice to see a landscape in England that hasn’t been ruined by man and machine, im wondering how long it will take them to do so. Any keen landscape artist or photographers should not miss out on seeing such scenery because lets fact it, it may be gone in the next few decades. You can take a boat out onto the river, paddle away or just float there on a sunny day, but make sure you don’t fall asleep, coz as I say, the ducks will get ya =p. Fishing is NOT allowed, so don’t even think about it. I have never been to a more beautiful place in England before. So natural and unspoilt. From mountains to rivers to woods it has everything. Deffenatly one for the hiking / artistic types.
