Good Local Food in London Oct 10, 2013
Let's face it (and sorry to my British friends in advance), but London is not world famous because of its good food. In fact, as far as world reknowned metropolitan cities go, London is probably one of the worst when it comes to cuisine. However, there are a few exceptions and The Ladbroke Arms is one of them. Located off the beaten path in the Notting Hill section of London (use the Notting Hill Gate Tube station), the Ladbroke Arms is a charming and cozy little pub that beaks the mold of most pubs. In here mass produced Fish and Chips and Bangers and Mash are nowhere on their menu. As a matter of fact, the menu is different from day-to-day. I ate there twice in a week and the menu was different with very little exception on both days. I had a seared Tuna steak that was very nice and the mussles appetizer was quite good. Other menu slections were a venison, duck and risotto. As you can see, this is quite the departure from typical pub food. With contemporary selections and nice craft ales on tap, the Ladbroke Arms is a great place to meet for a business dinner or a gathering of friends. You will most certainly need to make reservations as they are booked solid on most nights, especially Thursday through Saturday. I highly recommend including this restaurant on your next pass through London.
