Another great NYC institution is thge King Cole Bar at the St. Regis Hotel - see it if only to see where the "bloody mary" was invented. It's a real classic, in a beautiful 5 star location and surroundings, all right in the middle of the action at Fifth Avenue and 55th Street. In many ways the King Cole Bar has taken the place of the Oak Bar at the Plaza as the best 5th Avenue meeting place bar for tourists and business travelers who want a great drink, a little respite, and some people watching. If you're tired of shopping at Tiffany or Cartier, or you want a break from the shoppers you're with, stop into the St. Regis hotel and head into the King Cole!
